All very good points, chaps.

The question I asked was not "what should we do" it was "how shall we decide".

Both points of view regarding reply-to seem to be supported by
reasonable argument, but we can only do one or the other.

So shall I flip a coin or can someone think of a better approach?

We'll have many such dicision points in the future, so this is a
question we'll need an answer to at some point.
