I think the ANSI process gives us a couple of things:

o Process (:-)) - in particular a mechanism for reaching consensus

o Gravitas - people understand that an ANSI standard is something of substance

I didn't look to ANSI for any promotion or marketing value, though
saying ANSI will add weight to a marketing message.

For the process part - who has a good one?  Can we mirror what ANSI
does by having an elected "board" or some such that has a final say on
things?

For gravitas, we'd just have to earn that.
